In this article we will formulate a Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Guardians prediction for this MLB game on Tuesday, May 14th at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in this series.

Rangers Have Lost Four Straight

The Texas Rangers are 22-21 this season and they have lost four games in a row. Texas dropped game one in this series on Monday and they were shutout in the game. Prior to that series, the Rangers were swept in three games against Colorado, won three out of four against Oakland, and won two out of three against Kansas City. Texas has struggled in their last six games, but the AL West hasn’t been very good, so they are only 1.5 games behind Seattle for first.

The Texas pitching staff has a 4.14 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and a .228 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 205 runs with a .253 batting average and a .321 on base percentage. Adolis Garcia is batting .247 with eight home runs and 31 RBI’s for the Rangers this season. Texas is 6th in runs scored so far this season, but they have scored three runs or fewer in four straight games.

Guardians Leading the AL Central

The Cleveland Guardians are 26-16 this season and they have won two games in a row. Cleveland won game one in this series by a score of 7-0 on Monday night. Prior to this series, the Guardians lost three out of four against the White Sox, won two out of three against the Tigers, and won two out of three against the Angels. Cleveland is only 6-6 in their last 12 games, but they continue to lead the AL Central by one game over Minnesota.

The Cleveland pitching staff has a 3.35 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and a .231 opponent batting average. The Guardians offense has scored 202 runs with a .236 batting average and a .309 on base percentage. Josh Naylor is batting .267 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI’s for the Guardians this season. Cleveland is seventh in team ERA and they are seventh in runs scored this season, as they have allowed three runs or fewer in four of their last five games. The Guardians have also shutout their last two opponents, winning by a total of 14-0 in their last two games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Jack Leiter, who is 0-0 with a 12.91 ERA and a 2.35 WHIP over 7.2 innings pitched this year. Leiter has allowed 11 earned runs and 15 hits over 7.2 innings in two starts this year. The projected starting pitcher for Cleveland is Ben Lively, who is 1-2 with a 2.63 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP over 27.1 innings pitched this season. Lively has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, but did allow three earned runs and eight hits over 5.2 innings against the White Sox last time out.

Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

Texas comes into this game really struggling in their last four games and they are only 10-10 at home this year. The Rangers need to find their offense, as it has not been very good in the four losses. Cleveland struggled in their series with the White Sox over the weekend, but that didn’t stop them from scoring seven late runs on Monday for the win. The Rangers are going with Jack Leiter, who has been awful in two starts this season. The Guardians are going with Ben Lively, who has been above average, but didn’t pitch well in his last start. I really don’t like what I have seen from Leiter and I think this Texas offense is going to wake up, so my Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Guardians prediction is for this game to go over the total.
