In this article we will formulate a Texas Rangers vs Detroit Tigers prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, June 5th at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in the series.

Rangers Struggling to Hit Detroit Pitching

The Texas Rangers are 29-32 this season and they have lost three of their last five games. Texas has lost the first two games in this series and they have scored a total of two runs in the two losses. Prior to this series, the Rangers won two out of three against the Marlins, won both games against the Diamondbacks, and lost two out of three against the Twins. Texas is 5-9 in their last 14 games and they are second in the AL West behind Seattle.

The Texas pitching staff has a 3.90 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and a .230 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 266 runs with a .242 batting average and a .312 on base percentage. Corey Seager is batting .269 with 13 home runs and 29 RBI’s for the Rangers this season. Texas is 11th in runs scored this year, but they have scored two runs or fewer in three of their last five games.

Tigers Looking for Fourth Straight Win

The Detroit Tigers are 31-30 this year and they have won three games in a row. Detroit has won the first two games in this series by scores of 2-1 and 3-1. Prior to this series, the Tigers split a four game series with the Red Sox, split a two game series with the Pirates, and won three out of four against the Blue Jays. Detroit is 8-3 in their last 11 games, but they are fourth in the AL Central, 9.5 games behind Cleveland.

The Detroit pitching staff has a 3.74 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and a .236 opponent batting average. The Tigers offense has scored 259 runs with a .233 batting average and a .300 on base percentage. Riley Greene is batting .249 with 11 home runs and 24 RBI’s for the Tigers this season. Detroit is 18th in the MLB in runs scored this year and they have scored at least three runs in seven of their last nine games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Jose Urena, who is 1-5 with a 3.74 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP over 45.2 innings pitched this year. Urena has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, but only lasted 2.1 innings against the Marlins last time out. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Kenta Maeda, who is 2-2 with a 6.25 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP over 40.1 innings pitched this season. Maeda has been very inconsistent this year, but he has allowed at least five earned runs in two of his last three starts.

The Rangers have won eight of their last nine night games against the Tigers following a home loss.
The Tigers have lost each of their last six Wednesday games against American League opponents.

The Rangers have covered the run line in five of their last six games after playing the previous day.

Why the Detroit Tigers will win

The Tigers have won each of their last four games at Globe Life Field against AL West opponents that held a losing record.
The Rangers have lost each of their last four night games after playing the previous day.
The Rangers have failed to cover the run line in nine of their last 10 home games against AL Central opponents that held a winning record.

Total Runs Facts

Each of the Rangers’ last six home games have gone UNDER the total runs line.
Each of the Tigers’ last four road games against AL West opponents have gone UNDER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Tigers’ last seven Wednesday night games against AL West opponents.

Texas Rangers vs Detroit Tigers Prediction

Detroit has had some inconsistent hitting through the first 61 games of this season, but they have had great pitching and they have won eight of their last eleven games. The Tigers are 17-15 on the road, while Texas is 14-15 at home. Texas started to get things going against Miami and Arizona, but their offense has gone silent in the first two games here. Texas is starting Jose Urena, who has been solid this year, but didn’t pitch well last time out against Miami. Detroit is going with Kenta Maeda, who has some ugly numbers on the season. I think this is a great chance for this Texas lineup to wake up against Maeda and I think we are going to see plenty of runs here. My Texas Rangers vs Detroit Tigers prediction is for this game to go over the total.
