The Milwaukee Brewers and the Texas Rangers meet Friday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. Milwaukee is coming off a three-game series versus the Dodgers this week. The Brewers lost the first pair in that set, then on Thursday Milwaukee fell in a close result for the sweep. Milwaukee Brewers 

The Brewers lost to the Dodgers 6-2 on Tuesday and 7-1 Wednesday in the first two games of their last series. In the game two defeat, Milwaukee’s Mark Canha had the lone RBI on a solo home run. On Thursday in the finale, the Brewers out-hit LA 5-4 in a tough 1-0 loss. Tyrone Taylor was the only one with multiple hits (two) and Sal Frelick had one hit and two walks. 

In the starter slot for the Brewers on Friday, it’ll be Brandon Woodruff. Over four starts this year Woodruff is 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 26 Ks in 22.2 innings. Woodruff put up a win over the White Sox in his last start with 6.1 innings and two earned runs.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they did pretty well versus the Angels this week. Texas beat LA 12-0 on Monday and 7-3 on Tuesday but couldn’t complete the sweep with a 2-0 loss in the finale. During Wednesday’s defeat, Texas had just three hits. Those belonged to Marcus Semien, Mitch Garver (two walks) and JP Martinez. 

Andrew Heaney will take the mound for the Rangers on Friday. Over 23 starts Heaney is 9-6 with a 4.17 ERA and 119 Ks in 114.1 innings. Heaney is 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA and 30 strikeouts over his last seven starts.

I’ll probably take a stab on the Rangers here. Heaney had a bit of a weird start his last time up, going 1.1 innings with one earned on three hits and two walks. He got the hook quickly, as he’d been fighting off a cold earlier in the week and was unable to complete his bullpen session. That said, Heaney was 2-0 with zero earned in 11.2 innings over his previous two starts, so I think he’ll come back strong here. Texas has been pretty erratic at the plate lately with seven or more runs in three of their last five games and two or fewer runs in the other pair. A consistent offensive effort would be most welcome in this one, and I think the Rangers will get it.
