The Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers meet Sunday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series over the weekend. Toronto eked out a win in the opener, then in game two the Jays kept it going with another victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto scored three runs across the first three innings on Friday and hung on for the 4-3 win. In the Saturday matchup, the Blue Jays posted four runs in the first inning in an 11-7 victory. Starter Kevin Gausman put up 5.1 innings with five earned on eight hits and a walk.

For the starter slot in the Sunday finale, the Jays will send out Trevor Richards. This year Richards is 3-1 with a 4.72 ERA.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they gave up 10 hits (to their own seven) in the Friday loss. In the Saturday game, Texas gave up five runs in the third and 15 hits overall during the defeat.  Kohei Arihara left after 3.0 innings, 11 earned, 12 hits and five walks.

Martin Perez will take the mound for the start on Sunday. Over his 27 starts this year Perez is 10-6 with a 2.82 ERA. In 166.0 innings total he has 52 earned, 148 hits, 55 walks and 149 Ks.

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on the Rangers here. Should be another fun matchup regardless, though. Perez is 0-2 in his last two games (both against the Astros) and he gave up five earned on nine hits and four walks in 5.0 innings back on August 31. That said, Perez bounced back well in his last outing with one earned on six hits and a walk in 7.0 innings during a tough-luck defeat. If he can put together another outing like that, I think Perez and the Rangers will be in good shape.
