Kansas City Royals 

The Royals took on the White Sox in their last series, winning two of three games. In Wednesday’s 6-4 loss, KC’s Edward Olivares and Nelson Velazquez each homered. On Friday versus Toronto, the Royals gave up four runs in the seventh inning and lost 5-4. Salvador Perez finished with three hits and an RBI in the defeat. 

As starting pitcher for Saturday’s game, the Royals are sending out James McArthur. In nine games (one start) this year McArthur has a 10.13 ERA without a decision and eight strikeouts over 10.2 innings. 

Toronto Blue Jays 

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they took two of three from the A’s in their last set but also lost on Wednesday. Toronto got a solo home run from Davis Schneider in the 5-2 defeat. In Friday’s matchup the Jays got two RBI from both Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero. 

In the starter slot for Toronto on Saturday, it’ll be Kevin Gausman. This year in 27 starts Gausman is 10-8 with a 3.39 ERA and 207 Ks in 159.1 innings. Gausman is 3-3 with a 4.06 ERA in his last seven starts combined. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with the Jays. Probably also staying away. Gausman hasn’t been too bad lately (outside of an understandably sketchy start in Colorado). In his last three starts combined Gausman has 15.0 innings with eight earned runs on 18 hits and six walks. That total includes 4.0 innings, six hits, three earned and three walks at Coors Field his last time up. Gausman should be okay, though. On Friday Toronto really only had the one big inning at the plate, but it was enough amid a sketchy bullpen performance. The Jays will need some support behind Gausman if they want a win here.
