The United States come into this game with a 1-1 record, and now there are all kinds of pressure on them to come away with a victory in this game. On Saturday against Great Britain, they fell behind early, but the offense managed six runs to secure the victory. On Sunday, the pitching was awful against Mexico, giving up 11 runs. The offense managed five runs total, but three of those runs came late. Coming into the World Baseball Classic, there was concern about the pitching, but confidence in the offense. The pitching early in the game was a big issue, but at the end of the game, the pitching was better. In this game, if the pitching is good, it’s going to give them a strong chance to win, especially with the way the offense looked against Great Britain.
