The Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in game three of the World Series from Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night.
The Houston Astros will look to take their first series lead after tying the set-up at one win apiece following their 5-2 win over the Phillies in game two last time out. Alex Bregman had a two-run home run, while Jeremy Pena and Yordan Alvarez each had a double and an RBI in the win. Jose Altuve had three hits with a double, while Chas McCormick each added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Astros in the winning effort. Framber Valdez got the win, allowing just one run on four hits with nine strikeouts over 6.1 innings of work. Lance McCullers Jr. will get the start in game three for the Astros.
The Philadelphia Phillies will try to restore their series lead after the loss to the Astros in game two last time out. Jean Segura had an RBI, while Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm each had a double. Kyle Schwarber, Rhys Hoskins and J.T. Realmuto each had base hits as well as the Phils had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Zack Wheeler ended up with the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with three strikeouts over five innings of work in defeat. Noah Syndergaard is slated to get the start in game three for the Phillies.

I get the case to be made for a home underdog like the Phillies who haven’t let the big moment get to them so far in the series, but the issue I have here is that Syndergaard hasn’t gone deep in the postseason so far, so it’s either he’s swimming into deep waters that he hasn’t encountered this year, or it’s a bullpen game for the Phillies and that’s not something you want to encounter anytime, let alone in the World Series. Lance McCullers Jr. was beat up a bit in the ALCS, but he’s been solid pretty much every time we had seen him before that, and I think he’s just the better and more trustworthy arm here.I’ll side with Houston and the reasonable price here.
