Molly McCann and Hannah Goldy fight Saturday in UFC Fight Night 208 at The O2 Arena. McCann enters this fight with a 12-4 record and has won 58 percent of her fights by decision. Goldy enters this fight with a 6-2 record and has won 67 percent of her fights by decision.

McCann has won 5 of her last 7 fights and is coming off a March win over Luana Carolina. McCann is averaging 5.83 significant strikes per minute, with an accuracy percentage of 50 percent. McCann is averaging 1.79 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 36 percent. McCann is coming off a knockout win at UFC Fight Night 204 that earned performance of the night. A spinning back elbow, McCann has now won her last 2 fights and improves to 6-3 under the UFC banner. McCann has a chance to win 3 straight fights for the first time since 2019. McCann is a purple belt in BJJ and has some solid success with her takedown attempts, but she’s most known for her aggressive standup and power punching. McCann stands in the pocket and throws wild, powerful combinations and has a tough chin. McCann will throw knees to the body in the clinch and has a strong ground and pound as well. McCann also has a high gas tank that allows her to keep up the pace for 3 rounds and has helped her win 7 of her 10 career deacons. McCann has yet to win a fight through submission. This will be McCann’s 11th career fight in England, her birth country.

Goldy has split her last 4 fights and is coming off a September win over Emily Whitmire. Goldy is averaging 6.05 significant strikes per minute, with an accuracy percentage of 47 percent. Goldy is averaging 0.61 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 33 percent. Goldy is coming off a submission win at UFC Fight Night 192 where she landed 24 total strikes. Goldy is now 2-2 under the UFC banner and will fight for the first time outside of the United States. Goldy is a late bloomer to the fighting world as she started training just 8 years ago, and she comes from a boxing and Muay Tahi background. A real physical build, Goldy has a come forward approach and will mix in leg kicks as well. Goldy has a decent takedown defense, and she’s able to control position in the clinch with a strong upper body. Goldy has never been finished, despite 2 career losses. This will be Goldy’s first career fight in England.

This should be a fun fight between two girls who can stand in the pocket and trade punches. However, it’s tough to lay this sort of juice with McCann. What we can do is lean toward a decision in this fight given that neither fighter has high finish ability and the majority of both of their bouts go the distance. The juice is still a bit steep, but we do shave down some of it compared to backing McCann for the nod.

Give me this fight ending in decision.
