The Denver Nuggets travel to the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

The Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after routing the Rockets in a 124-111 road win on Saturday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 24 points and 11 rebounds, Frank Campazzo added 22 points with 12 assists and five steals while Aaron Gordon chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 53 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line, but this game was all about the second quarter where they exploded for a season-high 47 points to take a 22-point lead into halftime which allowed them to cruise in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be looking for a third straight victory after taking down the Thunder in a 95-86 road win last night. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Marquese Chriss each scored 15 points, Luka Doncic added 14 points with nine rebounds and 10 assists while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 12 points and seven assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defense as they were always in control after holding the Thunder to just 17 points in the second quarter to take a 12-point lead into halftime.

Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on one days’ rest and 22-10 ATS in their last 32 Monday games. The Mavericks are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

The Nuggets will again be without Bones Hyland and Monte Morris, but Austin Rivers is expected to return, while the Mavericks will again be without Boban Marjanovic and Brandon Knight who are both in league protocols. The regular season series is tied at 1-1 and I’m expecting a close contest in this one, but there’s just more to like about the Nuggets who have certainly been the more consistent team lately because of the reliable Jokic. I can see why the Mavericks are favored at home, but I think the Nuggets represent decent value as the road underdogs in this spot.
