Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Washington Wizards from the Target Center tonight.
Head to head, the Wizards are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings and 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota while the home team is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Timberwolves are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games following a S.U. loss, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. The Wizards on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, 23-10-1 ATS in their last 34 vs. Western Conference and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have played one of the toughest schedules out of anyone in the entire NBA, but I still consider their play through the first two months of action a disappointment. Maybe disappointment is the wrong word, but I thought this would be a sure fire playoff team with Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio finally healthy. However, they come into tonight's game at just 13-15 and their inability to close out any tight game whatsoever has to be a worry moving forward. On the bright side, they have played a brutal early season schedule with a lot of those games being on the road. They have on played 12 games at the Target Center to date, winning eight of those contests.
When was the last time you can remember the Washington Wizards coming off three straight road wins? Well, the last time they won four on the trot away from home came during the 2007-08 season to be exact. With Bradley Beal and Nene back in the lineup, Washington has looked liked the potential playoff team we all expected at the start of the season, winning in New York, Brooklyn and most recently Boston. The Wizards have also shown to be a pretty formidable offensive unit when completely healthy has they have averaged 107 points during their winning streak.
Although I think the over has some real value here, It's hard to look past how good the Wizards have been on the road lately. Not only have they won three straight away from home, but their last loss in Atlanta came in overtime by a single bucket. The Timberwolves are a clearly much better at home, but I think they are going to struggle to contain Washington's backcourt tonight, just like they did in their first meeting of the season in Washington as the Wizards won 104-100. Take your pick as I think Washington and the over are both solid plays...
