The Dallas Mavericks look to make light work of the visiting Orlando Magic tonight.
Head to head, the Magic are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings and 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Dallas while the road team is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Mavericks are 16-6 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The Magic on the other hand are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games, 0-7 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
In case you hadn't noticed, the Orlando Magic are really bad, I mean Milwaukee Bucks bad. This is a young squad that has only won 10 games all season long are currently riding a seven-game losing streak. Following their 120-94 beat-down in Denver on Saturday night, the Magic have now lost five straight games by 16 points or greater. What's even worse, injuries are starting to mount up as Aaron Afflalo, who missed their last game against the Nuggets and Jameer Nelson may join Nicola Vucevic on the sidelines with niggling injuries.
The Dallas Mavericks come into tonight's game coming off two straight victories, however, their play over the last month hasn't been the greatest as they have gone just 9-8 since the 9th of December. The Mavs have also won back-to-back home games, but that was after losing four straight at American Airlines Center. What else can you say, at 22-16 overall, they are just about what we all expected coming into the season. A high-powered offensive team that is going to win a majority of their games at home.
Like I say with a lot of games I cover with double-digit spreads, it's one team or nothing and in this case, it's definitely the Mavs or nothing. With three of their last four losses coming by 20 points or greater, the Magic are just fade material until they return home and get some players back from injury. Granted, Dallas has been a bit up and down as of late, but two of their last three wins have come by greater than tonight's spread of 12 points, and those team were better than Orlando. Frankly, any team is better than the Magic at the moment...
