The Dallas Mavericks will be looking to take a 3-1 series lead against the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
Monta Ellis dominated led all scorers with 29 points while Dirk Nowitzki added 18, but with the Mavericks down by two points with just 1.6 seconds left in the game, the ball went to Vince Carter who sunk the game-winning three pointer to give the Mavs a 109-108 win and a 2-1 series lead. Looking at the stats, the Spurs were allowed to shot over 54 percent so that doesn't look too impressive on the Mavs' part, but they did a great job of scoring quick baskets on turnovers and long rebounds which really pushed the pace of the game in their favor.

As for the Spurs, Tim Duncan led the way with 22 points, Tony Parker had 19 while Kawhi Leonard added 17 points on seven of eight shooting, but the game went down to one tough shot and unfortunately for the Spurs, it went in. If you're looking to point the finger, maybe you could blame the bench for their lack of production or blame the defense for not getting back on numerous fast-break baskets for the Mavs, but you just felt that whichever team took the last shot was going to win it because both teams were getting any looks they wanted in the fourth quarter.
In ATS trends, the Spurs are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Mavs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall but just 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.
Head to head, the Spurs are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall but a healthy 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
It's amazing how the Mavs have been able to win two games against the Spurs in this series because prior to this series, they had lost nine straight to them. Despite the Mavs' recent success, I still have the Spurs to win this series so I'm backing them to level the series with a narrow win in Game 4.
