The Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors collide at the Chase Center on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been one of the form teams of the league as they’ve won five of their first eight games, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after falling just short to the Spurs in a 116-113 home loss last night. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 30 points and 10 assists, Nicolas Batum added 21 points on eight of 12 shooting while Patrick Beverley chipped in with 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Clippers shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 19-point halftime deficit with 40 points in the third quarter, only to fall just short as Leonard missed on a 27-foot 3-pointer which would’ve forced overtime.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been in great form as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Kings in a 137-106 home win on Monday. Stephen Curry followed up his career-high 62 point performance on Sunday with 30 points, nine rebounds and eight assists on Monday, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 18 points while Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 16 points and five assists. As a team, the Warriors shot a healthy 52 percent from the field and a sizzling 23 of 43 from the 3-point line as they never looked in danger after jumping out to an early double-digit lead in the first quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 14-4 ATS in their last 18 road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Warriors are 4-13 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days rest.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Clippers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Golden State.
The Clippers will be kicking themselves about last night’s loss against the Spurs as a lackadaisical start really cost them a game they should’ve won. The Warriors have come to life in their last two wins and it’s no surprise that it’s been Curry leading the way with 92 points in his last two outings. It’s tempting to take the Warriors with the hot hand of Curry, but the Clippers are 14-4 ATS in their last 18 road games and I just get the feeling they’re going to come out firing after last night’s performance. I just feel that the Clippers are a nightmare matchup for the shorthanded Warriors, so I'm looking at them to bounce back here.
