The Utah Jazz play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the Vivint Arena on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a bit of a rut lately as they’ve lost five of their past seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after falling just short against the Nuggets in a 117-113 home loss on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with a triple-double of 35 points with 11 rebounds, 16 assists and four steals, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 19 points while Kristaps Porzingis and James Johnson each scored 16 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they poured in 36 points in the third quarter to overcome a 13-point deficit, only to go ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they scored just 19 points.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in great form as they’ve won 13 of their first 17 games of the season and they will be gunning for a season-high 10th straight win after last night’s 108-94 win over the Knicks. Royce O’Neale led the team in scoring with 20 points on seven of 12 shooting, Mike Conley added 19 points with seven rebounds and five assists, Rudy Gobert scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and four blocks while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Jazz shot just 40 percent from the field and 15 of 48 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and trailed by as many as 15 points, before taking over in the second half where they outscored the Knicks by 62-35 to make it look easy in the end. Donovan Mitchell had a night to forget as he scored just nine points on three of 15 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog. The Jazz are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 9-0 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Utah and the over is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings overall.
The Mavericks aren’t coming into this game with any momentum as they’ve struggled over their past seven games, but a win over the red-hot Jazz would do wonders for their confidence if they’re good enough to get it done. The Jazz are playing this one on zero days rest, but they are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and are currently the hottest team in the league. This could be a close one, but I’m sticking with the Jazz to stay hot here with another win at home.
