The Memphis Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans collide once again at the Smoothie King Center on Saturday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies were one of the hottest teams in the league during their seven-game win streak, but they’ve cooled off lately and will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Rockets in a 115-103 home loss on Thursday. Dedmon Bane led the team in scoring with 16 points off the bench, Ja Morant added 15 points with four assists while Brandon Clarke and Tyus Jones each scored 13 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 42 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 13 points at halftime and never recovered as they fell behind by as many as 25 points in a lackluster performance. Kyle Anderson had a forgettable night as he scored just three points on zero of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been heating up lately as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after last night’s 114-113 road win over the Pacers. Brandon Ingram led the team with 30 points and seven assists on 12 of 21 shooting, Lonzo Ball added 20 points on seven of 13 shooting while Zion Williamson chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 25 from the 3-point line as they dominated most of the game to lead by as many as 18 points, before escaping with the narrow win behind the go-ahead basket from Ingram with just 42 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Pelicans are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games playing on zero days’ rest, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as a home favorite.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in New Orleans.
The Grizzlies look to have cooled off from their seven-game win streak as they’ve lost two in a row, while the Pelicans look to be heating up after a slow start to the season. The Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall, but they are shorthanded in the front court and might just do it tough against the taller Pelicans who should feast in this one.
