The Portland Trailblazers travel to the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in decent form lately as they were riding a three-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Suns in a 127-121 home loss on Thursday. Damian Lillard led the team with 30 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Gary Trent Jr added 17 points while Enes Kanter chipped in with 16 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 45 percent from the field and 18 of 43 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after leading by 13 points in the third quarter, only to get run down in the fourth quarter as the Suns got hot and finished shooting a sizzling 59 percent from the field for the game.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games, but they will be breathing a major sigh of relief after arresting a 10-game slide with a 135-105 road win over the Pelicans. Jaylen Nowell led the team with a career-high 28 points on 11 of 13 shooting off the bench, Anthony Edwards added 27 points on 10 of 22 shooting, Jaden McDaniels scored 20 points with three blocks on eight of nine shooting while Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 53 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from the 3-point line as they as they exploded for 40 points in the second quarter to take control of the game, before running away with it in the second half where they scored another 68 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 games against a team below .400. The Timberwolves are 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 home games, 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 games against a team with a winning record and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Trailblazers are 21-8 ATS in the last 29 meetings in Minnesota and the Trailblazers are 40-14-2 ATS in the last 56 meetings overall.
The Trailblazers were riding a nice three-game win streak, before getting stopped by the Suns in their last outing, while the Timberwolves lost 10 in a row before their much-needed win over the Pelicans on Thursday. The Timberwolves will be feeling good after their last win, but they’ve been anything but a model of consistency, so I’m sticking with the more reliable Trailblazers to bounce back with a narrow win and cover in this one behind a big game from Lillard.
