The Golden State Warriors play host to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Chase Center on Tuesday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall, but they will be feeling much better after taking down the Rockets in a 131-114 win on Sunday. Damian Lillard led the way with a career-high 71 points on 22 of 38 shooting, Jerami Grant added 13 points while Nassir Little chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 54 percent from the field and 20 of 39 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 41 points in the second quarter to open up a big lead which allowed them to cruise in the second half and enjoy a classic scoring performance from their leader.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been a little below their best lately as they’ve lost four of their last seven games overall, but they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Timberwolves in a 109-104 win on Sunday. Klay Thompson led the team with 32 points on 12 of 23 shooting, Donte DiVincenzo added 21 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Jordan Poole chipped in with 15 points on five of 20 shooting. As a team, the Warriors shot just 42 percent from the field and 15 of 42 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they scored just 19 points in the third quarter to fall behind by 14 points, but they flipped the script with 31 points in the fourth quarter to pull off the comeback victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Warriors are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Trail Blazers are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Trail Blazers are 12-27 ATS in the last 39 meetings in Golden State.
The Trail Blazers are shorthanded again as Jusuf Nurkic and Anfernee Simons are both still out, while the Warriors are still missing Andrew Wiggins and Stephen Curry, but they should have Draymond Green back in the lineup which is a real boost for the Warriors. The Trail Blazers were able to snap out of their funk with a big win over the Rockets thanks to a career game from Lillard, but the Warriors are levels above the young Rockets and they’re going to be tough to beat if the Trail Blazers can’t put a lid on the Warriors’ Thompson who has been on fire lately. This should be a close one, but the Trail Blazers are only 12-27 ATS in the last 39 meetings in Golden State and I think that trend continues here as the Warriors get the win and cover at home.
