The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics meet Wednesday in NBA action at the TD Garden. Here’s a Celtics vs 76ers Prediction. This article will include a Celtics vs 76ers Pick.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers won 24 games last season in what was a disaster of a season. The 76ers haven’t missed the playoffs in back-to-back years since the 2016-17 season.

On paper, the 76ers are one of the more talented teams in the league. You can’t do much better than a trio of Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Joel Embiid. The problem is Embiid and PG13 have an injury history and can’t be trusted to play an entire season. That’s why you can’t take the 76ers trusted when talking about title contenders. Kelly Oubre Jr. is coming off one of his best seasons yet and is in his prime at 29 years old. VJ Edgecombe is an intriguing rookie and adds depth, while the return of Jared McCain is nice as well. The 76ers have the pieces, but it means nothing if their top-two players aren’t on the floor consistently. Oh, well.

Boston Celtics Betting Preview

The Boston Celtics won 61 games last season and have made the playoffs in each of the last 11 seasons. The Celtics are averaging 58.2 wins in the last 4 seasons.

The Celtics will look different given the injury to Jayson Tatum and Al Horford going out west. It’s why some think this will be a down year for the C’s. However, Jaylen Brown is capable of leading the team, while Derrick White has emerged as an all-star caliber player and Sam Hauser is a scorer. Payton Pritchard is a feisty defender and playmaker off the bench, while Anfernee Simons can do some of the things Tatum provided. In his last 3 seasons in Portland, Simons averaged 20.7 points on 43.4 percent shooting from the field. I wouldn’t write off the Celtics just yet, as they may not be as deep as they’ve been in past years, but this is still one of the best rosters in the East.

Why the Boston Celtics will win

  • The 76ers have lost each of their last 11 games against Atlantic Division opponents.
  • The favorites have won each of the 76ers’ last nine games.
  • The 76ers have failed to cover the spread in each of their last eight games as underdogs against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The Celtics have covered the spread in four of their last five home openers against Atlantic Division opponents.

Why the Philadelphia 76ers will win

  • The road team has won five of the 76ers’ last six games.
  • The Celtics have lost four of their last five night games.
  • The Celtics have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last eight night games against Atlantic Division opponents.
  • The road team has covered the spread in each of the 76ers’ last three games.

Total Points Facts

  • Seven of the 76ers’ last eight road openers as underdogs have gone OVER the total points line.
  • Each of the last four games between the 76ers and Celtics have gone OVER the total points line.

Celtics vs 76ers Injury Report

The Celtics will be without Jayson Tatum due to an Achilles injury. Jaylen Brown is questionable with a hamstring injury.

The 76ers will be without Trendon Watford, Paul George, and Jared McCain.

Celtics vs 76ers Prediction

This line is what it is because the Celtics are already down Tatum and could be down Brown as well. Check the injury report before betting. With that said, the Celtics still have guys capable of rising to the occasion. I don’t think highly of the 76ers, and they’re already without PG13. I don’t know what I’m getting from Embiid night to night. Furthermore, I bet last year that the 76ers wouldn’t make the playoffs and cashed a nice ticket. I just don’t trust them. Celtics at home in a near pick em spot. I’ll take it.
