The Cleveland Cavaliers invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have cooled off over the past couple weeks, but they will now be looking to gain some momentum after taking down the Magic in a 105-92 home win on Saturday. Darius Garland led the team with 26 points and 11 assists, Lauri Markkanen added 20 points while Jarrett Allen chipped in with 19 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line as they took a five-point lead at halftime, before opening the third quarter with another run to push the lead out to 17 points. The bench combined for just 20 points with Cedi Osman finishing with 10 points on three of 11 shooting, but they were never in danger against a depleted Magic team who shot just 39 percent from the field.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Wizards in a 120-114 home loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with 33 points and 10 assists on 13 of 25 shooting, Trey Burke added 14 points and four assists off the bench while Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber each scored 13 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 38 from the 3-point line as they poured in 69 points in the first half to take an eight-point lead into halftime, only to go cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 21 points as they couldn’t find offense outside of Doncic, Burke and Kleber late. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored just 10 points on four of 12 shooting, Dorian Finney-Smith scored just eight points while Reggie Bullock scored seven points on two of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 21-43-1 ATS in their last 65 games against a team with a winning record and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games overall. The Mavericks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Cavaliers are 0-5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Cavaliers are 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas.
Cedi Osman is listed as questionable while Dean Wade is listed as doubtful, while the Mavericks could be without Jalen Brunson who is listed as questionable so both teams could be shorthanded here. The Cavaliers were riding a five-game skid before their win over the Magic, but all five of those losses were against playoff-bound teams, but I’m sticking with the Mavericks to get the job done at home behind another big game from Doncic.
