The Dallas Mavericks play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the American Airlines Center on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a real funk lately as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be looking to bounce back in a hurry after last night’s 135-115 road loss to the Pelicans. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 23 points on nine of 13 shooting, Reggie Jackson got hot late to finish with 18 points while Paul George and Luke Kennard each scored 15 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 43 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and fell behind by double-digits in the first quarter, before getting completely run off the court in the third quarter where the Pelicans exploded for 43 points to push the margin out to 33 points.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in terrific form lately as they’ve won 11 of their past 14 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Nuggets in a 116-103 road win on Saturday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Luka Doncic added 21 points with 12 assists while Josh Richardson chipped in with 20 points on six of 11 shooting. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 18 of 46 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game with 34 points in the second quarter, before pushing the lead out to 21 points in the third quarter to put the game to bed early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days’ rest. The Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog.
Head to head, the Clippers are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas.
The Clippers really haven’t looked like themselves lately, particularly on the defensive end last night as they didn’t come out with any level of urgency and were always playing from behind after the Pelicans got off to a quick start. The Mavericks are a team that don’t need any help as they’ve been running through teams lately and they have the advantage of home court advantage and an extra days rest. With that being said, I’m taking the Mavericks to stay hot with another win in this one.
