Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns NBA Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/1/21

The Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks collide at the American Airlines Center on Monday night.

The Phoenix Suns were struggling mightily as they had lost five games in a six-game stretch and things didn’t look good when Devin Booker went down with injury, but that hasn’t stopped the Suns who are now aiming for a third straight win after taking down the Mavericks in a 111-105 road win on Saturday. Chris Paul has really shone lately as he led the team with 29 points and 12 assists, DeAndre Ayton added 18 points with 17 rebounds and four assists, while Jae Crowder and Mikal Bridges each scored 14 points. As a team, the Suns shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 22 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 15-point deficit with a 34-23 fourth quarter push thanks largely to Paul who has really stepped up in the absence of Booker.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have really been in a slump over the last couple of weeks as they’ve lost eight of their past 10 games and they will be hoping to stop a five-game skid after Saturday’s loss to the Suns. Luka Doncic has been a rock for the Mavericks as he led the way with 29 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 19 points while Willie Cauley-Stein chipped in with 14 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Mavericks shot 53 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control for most of the game, until they allowed 34 points in the fourth quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Mavericks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall.

Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Dallas, the Suns are 21-7 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall and the Suns are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Dallas.

The Mavericks will bounce back sooner rather than later but they’re not getting consistent performances from anyone other than Doncic which is why they’ve been losing. The Suns were struggling before they even lost Booker, but Paul has been a real leader for the Suns lately and I think he’ll have another big game. This is a close one to call, but the Suns are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Dallas and I think that trend continues here.
