The Toronto Raptors and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
The Toronto Raptors are really starting to heat up as they’ve won four of their past five games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after dismantling the Spurs in a 143-100 road win on Wednesday. Gary Trent Jr. led the way with 24 points on nine of 17 shooting, Pascal Siakam racked up a triple-double of 22 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists, OG Anunoby scored 18 points with five steals while Chris Boucher chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 53 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they held the Spurs to just 18 points in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead at halftime, before they exploded for 79 points in the second half to make it a second straight blowout win for the Raptors.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last four games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after sneaking past the Jazz in a 103-100 win on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the way with 33 points and 11 assists on 12 of 20 shooting, Christian Wood added 21 points with 10 rebounds off the bench while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 20 points, five assists and four steals. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they held the Jazz to just 15 points in the second quarter to rally back from an early 15-point deficit, before restricting them to just 22 points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 35-17 ATS in their last 52 games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Mavericks are 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Raptors could be shorthanded for this one as Fred VanVleet is currently listed as questionable with back soreness, while the Mavericks have already ruled out Davis Bertans and Frank Ntilikina for this one. The Mavericks are finally starting to build some good momentum, Doncic is already in midseason form, while Wood has looked great in his new team so far. However, the Raptors have caught fire with two massive wins in a row and I think they can stay hot with another win and cover at the short line.
