The Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets do battle at the Ball Arena on Saturday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they have won 10 of their past 13 games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after having their four-game win streak stopped by the Thunder in a 116-108 road loss on Thursday. Josh Richardson led the team with 27 points and six assists on 10 of 15 shooting, Jalen Brunson added 26 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 24 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 42 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 35-19 in the first quarter. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis were both out injured for this one.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in fine form as they’ve won 10 of their past 14 games and they will be aiming for a sixth straight victory after last night’s 103-102 road win over the Grizzlies. Nikola Jokic continued his terrific form with 28 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Will Barton and Michael Porter Jr. each scored 21 points while Paul Millsap returned from a nine-game absence to chip in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Nuggets shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they did just enough to escape with the narrow win, despite a terrible shooting night from Jamal Murray who finished with just three points on one of 14 shooting from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. The Nuggets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games following a road trip of seven or more days and the Nuggets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Denver.
The Mavericks have been in red-hot form, but they certainly didn’t look too hot in Thursday’s loss as they struggled without Doncic and Porzingis who were given extra time off. The Nuggets have continued to pile on the wins and they will have taken so much confidence from last night’s win. Jokic has been on a tear this season and I can’t imagine Murray shooting quite as poorly as he did last night, so I’m taking the Nuggets to stay hot with another win here.
