The Minnesota Timberwolves will hope to square up the series against the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 at the Ball Arena on Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into the playoffs with plenty of momentum after earning their way through the play-in tournament, but they’ve come crashing back down to Earth with a 109-80 loss to the Nuggets in Game 1 on Sunday. Anthony Edwards led the team in scoring with 18 points and five assists on six of 15 shooting, Jaylen Nowell added 12 points off the bench while Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in with 11 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 37 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and scored just 21 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 11 points going into halftime, before they got blown away in the third quarter to trail in this one by as many as 32 points at one stage.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets stumbled their way into the playoffs this season, but it looks as though they made the most of their extra time off as they came out and just blew away the Timberwolves in the series opener.  Jamal Murray led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Michael Porter Jr added 18 points with 11 rebounds while Nikola Jokic tallied 13 points with 14 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Nugget shot 45 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line as they worked their way to an early lead, before they outscored the Timberwolves by 32-14 in the third quarter to put the game to bed early and allow them to rest their starters.

Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record. The Nuggets are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 home games, 23-9 ATS in their last 32 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Denver, the Timberwolves are 24-8 ATS in the last 32 meetings in Denver and the Timberwolves are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.

The Timberwolves could be shorthanded for this one as Jaylen Nowell and Rudy Gobert are both listed as questionable, while the Nuggets are keeping an eye on Nikola Jokic who is questionable with a right wrist sprain. Be sure to check the lineups before tipoff, but assuming that Jokic indeed plays, I’ll back the Nuggets to repeat the dosage and dominate once again to go up 2-0 in the series.
