The Washington Wizards and the Golden State Warriors collide at the Chase Center on Monday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting stopped by the Trail Blazers in a 127-118 road loss on Saturday. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the team with 26 points and five assists, Kyle Kuzma added 22 points while Corey Kispert chipped in with 15 points on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they failed to match the Trail Blazers to start the game and allowed 38 points in the first quarter to trail by double-digits in the first half and they weren’t able to get back within single digits until late in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have started to heat up again as they will be eager to build on their current three-game win streak after taking down the surging Bucks in a 122-109 home win on Saturday. Klay Thompson drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 38 points and five assists, Jordan Poole added 30 points on nine of 16 shooting while Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Warriors shot 48 percent from the field and 18 of 45 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 39 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime which grew to 21 points in the third quarter where they scored another 36 points. Stephen Curry had himself a quiet night of just eight points and eight assists on three of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games, 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog and 16-35-2 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Warriors are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Golden State and the Wizards are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Warriors are still without Andre Iguodala and Gary Payton, but the good news is that Draymond Green is expected to return for this one on a minutes restriction. The Wizards have been in a season-worst slump and their confidence took another major hit after getting beaten by the depleted Trail Blazers in their last outing. The line makes this one tricky to pick as the Warriors are only 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, but with Thompson and Poole starting to heat up, it’s hard to go past the Warriors to win big at home.
