Houston Rockets vs Washington Wizards Player Prop Picks 11-11-24
In this matchup between the Houston Rockets and the Washington Wizards, we will see two young teams in the midst of development phases with different focuses. The Rockets, featuring emerging talents like Jalen Green and Alperen Şengün, are showing signs of progress with an emphasis on strong offensive capabilities and greater defensive consistency under coach Ime Udoka. Meanwhile, the Wizards are building around Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole, aiming to establish a foundation of scoring and playmaking in a rebuilding season.
Houston’s evolving team defense may give them an edge, while Washington relies on Poole and Kuzma’s scoring to stay competitive. The Wizards fare best when teams allow them to get in a shootout but I’m not sure the Rockets are the team that will give into that style of play. I can see Poole having trouble with this defense which will force him to spread the ball around to this young Wizards supporting cast.
Alperen Sungun Over 10.5 Reb
Alperen Şengün has been performing solidly in the rebounding department for the Houston Rockets. Through 9 games, he’s averaging 11.1 rebounds per game. His total rebounds for the season so far are 100, with an impressive 7.6 defensive rebounds per game. This showcases his strong presence in the paint, as his defensive rebounding rate is about 29.5%. His offensive rebounding is also noteworthy, contributing 3.6 per game. These numbers indicate his important role in controlling the boards for his team.
Sungun plays such an important role for this Rockets team and a big part is his ability to clean up on the glass. This is a dream matchup for Sungun as the Wizards lack a presence in the paint. The Wizards are currently allowing 60.9 rebounds per game to opposing teams which is the most in the whole league. We’ve seen Sengun get up to 18 rebounds in one game this season. He’s fully capable of getting double-digit boards and I don’t see a world where he doesn’t get 10+ on Monday.
Carlton Carrington Under 5.5 AST
Carlton Carrington has been averaging 5.3 assists per game over 7 games played. Along with his assist numbers, he’s also contributing 10.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, showcasing his all-around playmaking ability. He’s been a nice addition to this Wizards team and he’s already proven he’ll have a bright future in this league.
This might be Carrington’s toughest matchup of the season so far though. Houston is giving up 22 assists per game to opposing teams which is the fewest in the league. The Rocket’s identity is making things difficult for guards like Carrington. Carrington has gotten over this assist number in four straight games but I’m selling high on him in this matchup.
Jalen Green Over 23.5 PTS
Jalen Green has been averaging 21.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across 9 games. He is shooting 39.4% from the field and 36.9% from beyond the arc. Green has also maintained a free-throw percentage of 85.0%, contributing to an overall effective field goal percentage of 53.4%. His scoring is often a focal point for the Houston Rockets. Overall, Green’s early-season performances underscore his role as a primary offensive weapon for the Rockets, demonstrating both scoring prowess and efficiency.
On October 23, 2024, against the Charlotte Hornets, Green played 35 minutes, scoring 28 points and I can see a similar stat line in this one. We’ve seen that the Rockets have played very well against the younger teams this season. The Wizards are allowing 123.9 points a game to opposing teams which is the most in the league. This team plays no defense to simply put it. I expect a guy like Jalen Green to take advantage of that and put up some impressive numbers on Monday.
