The Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be looking to bounce back after falling just short to the Clippers in a 115-109 road loss on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team in scoring with 19 points on eight of 14 shooting, Rui Hachimura added 18 points off the bench, Kyle Kuzma scored 17 points while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 10-point third quarter lead, before squandering another five-point lead late in the fourth quarter as the Clippers closed the final 2:14 on an 11-0 run to snatch the game from them.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in a terrible slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 11 games overall and they will be desperate to bounce back after coming up short to the league-worst Rockets in a 139-130 overtime road loss on Wednesday. Russell Westbrook led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and six assists, LeBron James racked up a triple-double of 23 points with 14 rebounds and 12 assists while Malik Monk chipped in with 20 points on eight of 13 shooting. As a team, the Lakers shot 46 percent from the field and 18 of 47 from the 3-point line as they missed on a chance to win the game in regulation, before getting blown out in the overtime period where the Rockets opened with a ferocious 13-0 run.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 7-16-1 ATS in their last 24 road games, 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Lakers are 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 1-3-1 AT Sin their last five games following a loss and 1-5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles and the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Wizards haven’t been at their best lately, but they should’ve beaten the Clippers on Wednesday and they didn’t have to travel for this meeting, while the Lakers are in a season-worst slump and they just got beaten by the worst team in the league in a heartbreaking overtime loss. I expect the Lakers to come out firing after getting embarrassed in their last outing, but the Wizards have been decent since Porzingis joined the team and I think they can pull off the minor upset in this one.
