The San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans meet Sunday in NBA action at the Smoothie King Center.

The San Antonio Spurs look for another win to improve to 3-0 on the season. The San Antonio Spurs are averaging 131 points on 50.5 percent shooting and allowing 119 points on 51.6 percent shooting. DeMar DeRozan is averaging 28 points and nine assists while Dejounte Murray is averaging 21 points and six rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge is the third double-digit scorer and Lonnie Walker IV is dishing two assists. The San Antonio Spurs are shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and 86.2 percent from the free thitem line. The San Antonio Spurs are allowing 37 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 48 rebounds per game.

The New Orleans Pelicans look for a win to get a game above a .500 record. The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 105.5 points on 46.2 percent shooting and allowing 105 points on 46.3 percent shooting. Brandon Ingram is averaging 26 points and 5.5 rebounds while Zion Williamson is averaging 23.5 points and 12 rebounds. JJ Redick is the third double-digit scorer and Eric Bledsoe is dishing six assists. The New Orleans Pelicans are shooting 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and 67.9 percent from the free thitem line. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 36.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 43 rebounds per game.

The Spurs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 0 days rest. The Pelicans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 10-2 in Pelicans last 12 overall. The Spurs are 8-21 ATS in the last 29 meetings in New Orleans.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Spurs respond to the end of a back to back for the first time, especially traveling during these COVID-19 times. The Pelicans are also the better team here and obviously have the rest advantage. However, the Spurs are a team we’ve backed twice in the underdog role and they’re simply rolling out of the gate, mainly on the offensive side. No reason for me to bet against the Spurs after the way they’ve played their first two contests.
