NY Knicks vs Charlotte Hornets Player Prop Picks 12-5-24
This matchup between the New York Knicks and the Charlotte Hornets promises to showcase a clash of styles and strengths. The Knicks are off to a solid start to the season, riding a potent offense spearheaded by Jalen Brunson and the addition of Karl Anthony Towns. They also acquired OG Anuoby and his addition has given them a significant boost, improving their overall performance, including their rebounding and perimeter defense.
On the other hand, the Hornets are relying heavily on LaMelo Ball, who has been playing at an elite level. However, Charlotte has been without LaMelo due to injury which has hindered their consistency. Despite this, rookie Brandon Miller has also emerged as a significant contributor. The Knicks will likely look to capitalize on Charlotte’s weakened roster, with their well-rounded game posing challenges for the Hornets.
Brandon Miller Under 5.5 Rebounds
Brandon Miller’s rebounding stats this season show notable contributions, particularly in defense. He has averaged 5.3 rebounds per game. His breakdown consists of 1.4 offensive rebounds and 3.7 defensive rebounds per game. This performance places him as a steady contributor in the rebounding department for the Charlotte Hornets.
Brandon Miller has had some impressive rebounding performances but my problem with him has been inconsistency issues. For example, after a strong couple of games on the glass he only had three rebounds in his last game against the Sixers and I don’t think this is a good spot for him to bounce back against his Knicks team. The Knicks are only giving up 48 rebounds per game to opposing teams which is the fewest in the league. He’ll be matched up with Karl-Anthony Towns whose been a premier rebounder in the league this season. This is a good time to fade Brandon Miller on the glass.
Jalen Brunson Under 25.5 Points
Jalen Brunson is currently averaging 25.4 points per game while also contributing 7.7 assists and 2.9 rebounds. Brunson is shooting efficiently, with a field goal percentage of 48.8%, including 40.9% from three-point range. He has also been solid at the free-throw line, converting 85% of his attempts.
Jalen Brunson has failed to get over 25 points in his last two games and this is a spot I’m looking to fade him again. This Hornet’s team plays good defense and plays at one of the slower paces in the league so far this season. These teams played just a couple of games ago and neither team scored over 100 points. If we see somewhat of a similar result there’s no way Jalen Brunson will clear this point line.
Karl-Anthony Towns Over 11.5 Rebounds
Karl-Anthony Towns has been performing strongly on the boards during the 2024-25 NBA season. Through 21 games, he is averaging 13.1 rebounds per game, with a solid total of 262 rebounds so far. His rebounding efficiency shows a dominant presence in the paint, contributing 10.2 defensive rebounds per game and 2.9 offensive rebounds. His overall rebounding percentage is 22.8%, with defensive rebounds making up a significant portion of his contributions.
Karl-Anthony Towns has cleared this line with ease in seven of his last nine games. In his last game, he had 15 rebounds against the Orlando Magic, and the game before that he had 19 rebounds against the New Orleans Pelicans. If you’ve been betting the over on Karl-Anthony Towns rebounds this season you’ve been cashing in. I don’t see a world where Anthony Towns doesn’t have another big game on the glass in this matchup.
