The Houston Rockets pay a visit to the Chesapeake Energy Arena to battle the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.
The Houston Rockets have had to endure a rough start to the season, but they’re starting to heat up now as they will be gunning for a sixth straight win after routing the Pelicans in a 126-112 road win on Saturday. Christian Wood led the team with 27 points on 11 of 13 shooting, Victor Oladipo added 20 points with seven assists while John Wall chipped in with 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 48 percent from the field and 20 of 46 from the 3-point line as they trailed by 11 points early, before exploding for 48 points in the second quarter to lead by as many as 24 points. The Rockets went on to cruise in the second half which allowed them to rest all five starters early.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost six of their last nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Nets in a 147-125 home loss on Friday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 24 points and five assists on seven of 10 shooting, Theo Maledon added 24 points on eight of nine shooting, Hamidou Diallo scored 18 points off the bench while Al Horford chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 38 from the 3-point line, but they fell behind by double-digits early and the margin only grew wider as the Nets shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Thunder are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings overall, the Rockets are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Oklahoma City and the Rockets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Rockets are clearly the better team in better form compared to the Thunder at this point. The Thunder are only 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, while the Rockets are riding a season-high five-game win streak. I’m keeping this one simple and I’m taking the Rockets to stay hot with another win and cover here.
