The Phoenix Suns and the Oklahoma City Thunder do battle at the Paycom Center on Sunday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games and they will be eager to build on their four-game win streak after sneaking past the Nuggets in a 100-93 win on Friday. Kevin Durant led the team with 30 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Devin Booker added 27 points with six assists while Chris Paul chipped in with five points and 13 assists on two of nine shooting. As a team, the Suns shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with their defense by holding the Nuggets to just 40 points in the first half to jump out to a 27-point lead, before they held off a late charge from the Nuggets to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short against the Pacers in a 121-117 road loss on Friday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 39 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Josh Giddey added 21 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Jalen Williams chipped in with 14 points and six assists. As a team, the Thunder shot 47 percent from the field and four of 30 from the 3-point line which was enough to hang with the Pacers until they went cold, scoring just six points in the final 4:35 to allow the Pacers to slip away in a close finish.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Thunder are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Suns are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Oklahoma City and the Suns are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Suns don’t have a single player listed on the injury report and they have been playing some of their best basketball of the season, so they will be loving their chances against this Thunder team who have cooled off with four losses in their past six games. It’s hard to split these two squads at the moment and I’m tempted to take the Thunder at home, but the Suns are getting better with every game that Durant plays and I think we’ll see that again in this spot.
