The Denver Nuggets invade the Moda Center to take on the Portland Trailblazers on Tuesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in a rut as they are now riding a four-game losing streak after getting thrashed by the Suns in a 126-97 road loss on Sunday. Jeff Green led the team in scoring with 19 points on six of 10 shooting, Aaron Gordon added 16 points with 10 rebounds and four assists while JaMychal Green chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 36 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line, but this game was over in a hurry as the Nuggets were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Suns to explode for a season-high 48 points in the first quarter. Gordon was also ejected after receiving two quick technical for arguing with an official which certainly didn’t help in the second half where the Nuggets got blown out. Bones Hyland also injured his ankle in the first quarter and has been ruled out for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have really started to turn their season around recently as they’ve won four of their past five games and they will be aiming to build on their current three-game win streak after taking down the 76ers in a 118-111 home loss on Saturday. Damian Lillard led the team with39 points and seven assists, CJ McCollum added 18 points with five assists while Norman Powell chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they held the 76ers to just 21 points in the second quarter to build an 18-point lead, before holding off a late rally from the 76ers to escape with the narrow win. The Trailblazers had an efficient shooting night all round and they were a perfect 23 from 23 at the free throw line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Trailblazers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings overall and the Nuggets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
Bones Hyland and Michael Porter Jr. are both out for this one while Nikola Jokic is currently listed as questionable, so the Nuggets will be shorthanded once again and their confidence took another hit after getting blown out by the Suns on Sunday. The Trailblazers are starting to heat up now with quality wins over the Raptors, the Bulls and now the 76ers. Assuming that Jokic doesn’t suit up, I’d take the Trailblazers to stay hot with another win and cover at home.
