Victor Wembenyama led the team with 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and five blocks, Malaki Branham added 17 points off the bench while Jeremy Sochan chipped in with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 43 percent from the field and 15 of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Lakers from the start and trailed by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter before they scored a late flurry of points to make things seem closer than they were.

 Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting beaten by the Hornets in a 115-107 loss on Thursday. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Collin Sexton added 17 points with five assists while Keyonte George chipped in with 16 points and five assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 43 percent from the field and nine of 39 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 38 points in the third quarter to take a nine-point lead, only to go cold and manage just 17 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Hornets to run them down with time to spare.

The Spurs are still missing Marcus Morris Sr while the Jazz are still without Otto Porter Jr. The Spurs have been one of the coldest teams in the league despite the odd monster game from Wembenyama, while the Jazz have been in terrible shape with just two wins in their past 10 games overall. You couldn’t back either side with any confidence these days given how bad these teams have been, but there is a bit more to like about the Jazz who beat the Spurs by 130-118 back on Dec 26. I’m not in love with the line, but I’ll lean towards the Jazz to get the much-needed win and cover at home.
