Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions – 5/26/20 Madden20 NFL Sim Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers meet Tuesday afternoon in a Madden20 simulation game. 

The Detroit Lions don’t have a single player ranked in the 90s, but their top three ranked players are on the defensive side of the ball in Damon Harrison, Darius Slay and Trey Flowers. The Lions then have two respectable receivers ranked in the mid 80s in Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, while quarterback Matthew Stafford is ranked 82 overall with a 78 acceleration rating. The Lions have a more than respectable defense in this game and a decent trio of wide receivers when you thitem in Danny Amendola, but there’s something about this squad that doesn’t move the needle all that much. Maybe it’s the lack of top tier talent or a quarterback that’s pretty much been the same level his whole career, but the Lions aren’t a team people are running to play with in Madden20.

The Green Bay Packers have three players ranked 90 or better overall in left tackle David Bakhtiari, wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers comes in with an 89 rating overall, a 82 rating in acceleration and a 91 awareness rating. Of course, a lot of the Packers success comes down to quarterback play and as long as he takes care of the ball, they’ll give you a chance to win no matter who they play. The problem is the Packers have limited weapons outside of quarterback, so scoring can be limited at times and the ground game has been weak in past simulations. However, the Green Bay Packers have eight players with an awareness rating of at least 90, which is important in a computer simulation where you’re counting on guys to do their job correctly.

The Detroit Lions have some underrated offensive firepower in this game that makes them a live underdog in some of these spots. The problem is we’ve seen this matchup before in past simulations and it usually went in the direction of the Packers. The Green Bay Packers can be sloppy on the defensive end at times, but they also can find a lot of explosive offense to where it doesn’t matter much against lesser teams.
