The New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts meet in a Madden 20 NFL simulation game on Thursday afternoon.

The New England Patriots will look to build off of a 32-31 win over San Francisco in their last sim appearance. Tom Brady leads New England at quarterback in this year’s Madden with a 91 overall rating with 90 thitem power and 96 short pass accuracy while Julian Edelman is number one on the depth chart in New England’s receiving group at 87 overall with 91 acceleration, 91 agility and 85 catching. James White leads the New England ground attack at 83 overall with 89 speed, 92 acceleration and 90 agility. On defense, Stephon Gilmore leads the Pats with a 98 overall rating with 99 awareness and 92 speed with 94 acceleration and 94 agility while also rated at 98 in man coverage and 96 in zone coverage. Devin McCourty is New England’s second-highest rated DB at 92 overall with 93 zone coverage and 90 marks across the board in speed, agility and acceleration. Dont’a Hightower leads New England’s linebacking group at 88 overall with 91 impact blocking and 92 tackling in addition to 93 play recognition and 93 pursuit.

The Indianapolis Colts will look to build on a decent showing in the Sim Classic, finishing at 2-1 in group play, advancing to the playoff rounds. The Colts’ stay was short though as they were bounced by Baltimore in the quarterfinals. T.Y. Hilton leads the Colts on offense with an 88 overall rating, with 93 speed as well as 95 agility and 91 acceleration at wide receiver. The Colts also have some strength up front with four offensive linemen with at least an 80 overall rating, led by Quenton Nelson who has a team-high 94 overall rating with a 99 awareness rating as well as 97 strength and 92 run blocking. On the defensive end, Justin Houston leads Indy with an 86 overall rating, including a 93 mark in play recognition while Darius Leonard sits at one of the outside linebacker spots with an 85 overall rating including an 88 rating in tackling.

New England’s had a pair of one-point wins lately, so the free touchdown with the Colts is definitely tempting. However, Indianapolis also has a tendency to get pushed around by the better teams in these sim games, and New England is definitely one of the better teams in the game. I think this is a game where New England pulls away as the game goes on, so I’ll lay the points with New England in this spot.
