The New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons square off Monday night in week 2 of NFL preseason action at MetLife Stadium. The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a preseason win over the Lions. The New York Jets are coming off a preseason win over the Eagles. 

The Atlanta Falcons have lost 7 of their last 9 preseason games. The Falcons racked up 27 points and 307 yards while allowing 23 points and 393 yards. In the winning effort, Desmond Ridder threw for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Marcus Mariota completed 2 of 2 passes. Ridder led the Falcons with 59 rushing yards on 6 carries, while Drake London and Jared Bernhardt combined for 45 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Dee Alford led the Falcons with 8 tackles, Jordan Brailford had 0.5 sacks and Dorian Etheridge had 1 pass deflection. 

The New York Jets are 4-0-1 SU in their last 5 preseason games. The Jets racked up 24 points and 302 yards while allowing 21 points and 311 yards. In the winning effort, Mike White threw for 98 yards on 10 completions, while Chris Streveler completed 6 of 9 passes. The Atlanta Falcons looked great in their preseason opener, and they could have a legit quarterback battle between Ridder and Mariota. The rookie made a strong first impression. The New York Jets are going to play a ton of White and Streveler at quarterback with Zach Wilson injured. I understand why the Jets are underdogs here. With that said, it’s a meaningless preseason game where weird things happen, and it’s in New York where the Jets fans will out in full force given it’s Monday night. I’m leaning toward taking the free points with the Jets.
