Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a nice win over the Cowboys in their season opener, where they scored 2 touchdowns in the fourth quarter. It was the Jags first preseason victory since August 2021, as they were 0-3 SU in last year’s exhibitions. In the Jaguar’s most recent effort, Nathan Rourke threw for 153 yards and 1 touchdown, while C.J. Beathard had 80 passing yards on 13 passes. Tank Bigsby led the Jaguars with 52 rushing yards on 9 carries, while Jacob Harris and Elijah Cooks combined for 84 receiving yards on 3 catches. Defensively, Antonio Johnson led the Jaguars with 8 tackles, Yasir Abdullah had 1 sack and Christian Braswell had 1 interception. The Jags have to be pleased with their effort, as they scored at least 1 touchdown in 3 of the 4 quarters and produced 21 first downs and over 400 total yards. With all that said, the Jaguars haven’t won back to back preseason games since August 2018. 

Detroit Lions Betting Preview 

The Detroit Lions are coming off a preseason win over the Giants thanks to a late touchdown run by Adrian Martinez. It was a rare preseason win for the Lions, considering they’ve still lost 10 of their last 12 exhibitions. In the Lion’s most recent effort, Nate Sudfeld threw for 194 yards and 2 interceptions, while Martinez had 37 passing yards on 7 attempts. Devine Ozigbo led the Lions with 31 rushing yards on 11 carries, while Chase Cota and James Mitchell combined for 113 receiving yards on 7 catches. Defensively, Anthony Pittman led the Lions with 4 tackles, Julian Okwara had 3 sacks and Brandon Joseph had 1 interception. The Lions came alive in the second half, outscoring the Giants 18-3 and winning the game late. The type of performance that should give the Lions a confidence boost moving forward. The Lions haven’t won back to back preseason games since August 2017.

These are two teams that have zero history of preseason success, so excuse me if I’m not excited to lay chalk, especially with the road team. Also, the Lions third stringers were the star of last week’s show, so getting points with them at home in a game where we could see the starters a bit more has value. Again, neither of these teams have won back to back preseason games in many years. We’re getting a little more than a field goal with the home team. I’ll take a shot with the Lions and the points.
