In this article we will formulate a NY Jets vs Miami Dolphins prediction for this NFL game on Sunday, January 5th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 18 matchup.

NY Jets Betting Preview

The New York Jets are 4-12 this season after they lost to Buffalo by a score of 40-14 in their last game. New York trailed 40-0 in the fourth quarter, but they did score two late touchdowns to avoid the shutout. The Jets were out gained by a total of 348-281, lost the turnover battle 3-0, and went 4-9 on third down in the game. Aaron Rodgers threw for 112 yards and two interceptions, while Tyrod Taylor threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Garrett Wilson caught seven passes for 66 yards and one score, while Breece Hall rushed for 45 yards on 10 carries in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Jets lost to the Rams by a score of 19-9, but did beat the Jaguars by a score of 32-25 before that. New York has lost six of their last seven games and they are currently third in the AFC East, one game ahead of the Patriots. The New York offense has scored 19.1 points per game with 216.1 passing yards and 90.2 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 24 points against per game this season. Aaron Rodgers has completed 63% of his passes for 3,623 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while Garrett Wilson has caught 97 passes for 1,053 yards and seven scores this year.

Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

The Miami Dolphins are 8-8 this year after they defeated the Browns by a score of 20-3 in their last game. Miami was tied at three in the second quarter, but they scored the last 17 points in the game for the double-digit win. The Dolphins out gained Cleveland by a total of 280-276, won the turnover battle 2-0, and went 2-11 on third down in the game. Tyler Huntley threw for 225 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 52 yards and one score in the game. Tyreek Hill added nine catches for 105 yards in the win.

Prior to that game, the Dolphins defeated the 49ers by a score of 29-17, but did lose to Houston by a score of 20-12 before that. Miami has won six of their last eight games, but their postseason chances aren’t great after starting the season 2-6. The Miami offense has scored 20.3 points per game with 221.1 passing yards and 103.8 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 20.8 points against per game this season. There is still no word on if Tua is going to suit up for the Dolphins in this game, but I am assuming it is going to be Huntley once again. Tyler Huntley has completed 66.3% of his passes for 602 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while Tyreek Hill has caught 79 passes for 939 yards and six scores this year.

NY Jets vs Miami Dolphins Prediction

Miami comes into this matchup still hoping to make the postseason, but they need to win this game and get some help. The Dolphins are most likely going to be without Tua in this game, but they have been great over the last two months, as they have won six of their last eight games. New York was just blown out by the Bills on the road and they have dropped 11 of their last 13 games. Miami did get the 32-26 win over New York a few weeks ago and I like them to get another win here. The Jets have looked horrendous over the last two weeks and I am rolling with the Dolphins here, regardless of the quarterback.
