The Anaheim Ducks and the Arizona Coyotes meet in NHL action from the Gila River Arena on Thursday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to build on a 1-0 win over the Coyotes in their last matchup. Carter Rowney leads the Ducks in scoring with 4 points, all of which have come via assists while Nicolas Deslauriers, Ryan Getzlaf and Max Comtois each have 3 points. Comtois leads the Ducks in goal-scoring with 3 goals while Deslauriers has 2 goals and an assist and Ryan Getzlaf has 3 assists. After those three, eight more Ducks have two points on the year. John Gibson’s seen the bulk of the work for Anaheim in goal this season, posting a 3-3 record with a pair of shutouts and a 1.67 GAA this season.
The Arizona Coyotes will try to bounce back after the loss to the Ducks in their last outing. Conor Garland leads the Coyotes in scoring with 6 points coming on 2 goals and 4 assists while Jakub Chychrun, Christian Dvorak and Nick Schmaltz each have 5 points with Schmaltz logging 3 goals and 2 assists while Chychrun and Dvorak each have a goal and 4 helpers. Derick Brassard and Phil Kessel each have 4 points as well with Kessel’s damage all coming from goal-scoring while Brassard has a goal and 3 assists. Darcy Kuemper’s seen the bulk of the work for Arizona, posting a 1-4 record in 6 appearances with a 2.51 GAA this season.
Anaheim is 8-17 in their last 25 games against a team with a losing record and 6-20 in their last 26 games following a win while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall. Arizona is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. The home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
I’m not sure how likely I am to run to the window to bet this game as there are just far better options on the board than picking a side. However, Arizona continues to provide little value and I really want no part of the Coyotes laying juice. Anaheim is struggling in their own right, but the Ducks have been in a ton of close games already and battled for themselves and I just think the Ducks come to play again here and get another win.
