The Los Angeles Kings and the Vegas Golden Knights meet in NHL action from the T-Mobile Arena on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Kings will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to the Sharks in their last matchup. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 37 points including 8 goals and a team-high 29 assists while Drew Doughty has 27 points with 7 goals and 20 assists. Alex Iafallo has 21 points with 8 goals and 13 assists while Dustin Brown has 21 points with a team-high 14 goals and Adrian Kempe’s on 12 goals as part of his 20 points this season. As a team, Los Angeles is averaging 2.8 goals on 29 shots with a 24.8% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.7 goals on 31.4 shots with an 85.4% success rate on the PK this season.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be out to build on their 3-2 win over Colorado last time out. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 39 points including 12 goals and 27 assists with Stone leading Vegas in assists while Max Pacioretty has 33 points with a team-high 18 goals and 15 assists with a team-high 125 shots on goal this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.3 goals on 30.8 shots with an 18.9% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals on 27.5 shots with an 84% success rate defending the PK this season.
Los Angeles is 4-10 in their last 14 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 games as an underdog while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road underdog. Vegas is 46-19 in their last 65 games overall and 36-15 in their last 51 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home favorite. The over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for the Kings and the heavy plus money as there’s just a lot of value there. However, Vegas has historically been tough to beat on home ice and I think this game is going to be no different. The Golden Knights are just on a different level than the Kings right now and playing at home does Vegas a huge favour and a huge disservice to the Kings. I’ll side with the Golden Knights on the puck line in this one.
