The Minnesota Wild and the Arizona Coyotes meet in NHL action from the Gila River Arena on Monday night.
The Minnesota Wild will look to build on their 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks in their last matchup. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild in scoring with 36 points including a team-high 17 goals and 19 assists while Mats Zuccarello has 27 points with 10 goals and 17 assists. Kevin Fiala also has 14 goals with 12 apples for his 26 points while Joel Greenway has 20 assists to lead the Wild in that department and Joel Eriksson Ek also has 14 goals as well this season. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 3 goals on 28.4 shots with a 16.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.7 goals on 30.7 shots against with an 83.8% success rate on the PK this season.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to build on their huge 3-2 win over the Blues in their last matchup. Phil Kessel leads the Coyotes in scoring with 34 points including a team-high 16 goals and 18 assists while Conor Garland has 32 points with a team-high 33 assists. Clayton Keller and Jakob Chychrun each have 31 points with 13 goals and 18 assists apiece while Nick Schmaltz and Christian Dvorak each have double-digit goals and assists as well this season. As a team, Arizona is averaging 2.6 goals on 26.5 shots with a 19.7% success rate on the power play while giving up 3.1 goals per game on 31 shots against with an 80.3% success rate on the PK this season.
Minnesota is 0-5 in their last 5 games as a road favorite and 2-7 in their last 9 road games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record. Arizona is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 home games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games as a home underdog. Minnesota is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for both teams in this one as Minnesota’s the better team, but they’re much better at home. With that said, I think Arizona’s the more desperate team by a mile here, and the Wild may struggled to find their footing against St. Louis on the road last week. Arizona just got a big win over St. Louis at home last time out and will be out for revenge after the Wild stomped them 5-2 in last week’s matchup so I’ll take a shot with Arizona and the plus money in Monday’s rematch.
