Minnesota lost to Winnipeg by a score of 4-2 and Colorado by a score of 5-2 in the two games prior to Chicago. The Wild are scoring 3.01 goals per game and they are allowing 3.13 goals against per game, while going 21.5% on the power play and 74.3% on the penalty kill. Kirill Kaprizov has led Minnesota with 41 goals, 48 assists, and 251 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Minnesota is Filip Gustavsson, who is 19-17-4 this year with a 3.07 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

The Colorado Avalanche are 48-24-6 this year after they lost to Dallas by a score of 7-4 in their last game. Colorado led 1-0 in the first and tied the game at two in the second, but they allowed five of the last seven goals in the loss. The Avalanche out shot Dallas by a total of 38-37 and went 1-2 on the power play in the game. Colorado Avalanche Team Facts

  • The Avalanche have won 12 of their last 13 home games against Western Conference opponents.
  • The road team has covered the puck line in five of the last six games between the Wild and Avalanche.
  • The Avalanche have won the second period in each of their last four games as favorites following a home loss.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1’ market has hit in 19 of the Avalanche’s last 20 games following a loss.

Minnesota Wild Team Facts

  • The Wild have covered the puck line in seven of their last eight night games following a road win.
  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals Period 1’ market has hit in six of the Wild’s last eight games as underdogs.

Avalanche vs Wild Prediction

Colorado comes into this matchup second in the Central division and they are only two points up on Winnipeg, so this is a very important game. Minnesota won’t be making the playoffs this season and they are only 17-16-4 on the road. The Wild have played very inconsistently over the last couple of weeks and are 0-2-1 against Colorado this year. The Avalanche have dropped three of their last four games, but they are one of the best home teams in the NHL, going 29-8-1. The Avs have struggled defensively recently and I think we could see some goals in this game. Take the over here.
