In this article we will formulate a Stars vs Golden Knights prediction for this NHL game on Monday, April 22nd at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game one in this series.

Stars Preview

The Dallas Stars were 52-21-9 during the regular season and they finished first in the Central division, three points ahead of Winnipeg. Dallas has won 12 of their last 14 games and they have allowed two goals or fewer in six of their last nine games. The Stars finished the regular season with wins over St. Louis, Seattle, Buffalo, Colorado, and Edmonton in their last couple of weeks. The Stars are scoring 3.59 goals per game and they are allowing 2.83 goals against per game, while going 24.2% on the power play and 82% on the penalty kill. Jason Robertson has led Dallas with 29 goals, 51 assists, and 231 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Dallas is Jake Oettinger, who is 35-14-4 this year with a 2.72 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

Golden Knights Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights went 45-29-8 in the regular season and they finished in the second wild card spot in the West. The Golden Knights have been pretty inconsistent this season, but they are getting healthier and should be a very tough out in this series. Vegas lost their last regular season game against Anaheim by a score of 4-1, but they did win the three previous games against Chicago, Colorado, and Minnesota. The Golden Knights are scoring 3.21 goals per game and they are allowing 2.96 goals against per game, while going 20.2% on the power play and 79.3% on the penalty kill. Jonathan Marchessault has led Vegas with 42 goals, 27 assists, and 266 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Vegas is Logan Thompson, who is 25-14-5 this year with a 2.70 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.

Dallas Stars Team Facts

  • The Stars have won each of their last 13 night games against Pacific Division opponents.
  • The underdogs have covered the puck line in each of the last 18 games between the Golden Knights and Stars.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 2′ market has hit in each of the Stars’ last 13 games after coming off overtime.
  • The Stars have won the first period in six of their last seven games as favorites against Pacific Division opponents.

Vegas Golden Knights Team Facts

  • The Golden Knights have won each of their last four games as underdogs against the Stars.
  • The underdogs have covered the puck line in each of the Golden Knights’ last nine games at American Airlines Center.
  • The Golden Knights have lost the second period in each of their last four games as underdogs.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1′ market has hit in four of the Golden Knights’ last five games at American Airlines Center.

Stars vs Golden Knights Prediction

Dallas comes into this series after an incredible regular season, but this is going to be a very tough series to win. The Stars are 26-11-4 at home, while Vegas is just 18-17-6 on the road. The Golden Knights have battled injuries all season, but they are getting healthy at the right time. Both teams are very solid defensively, but Dallas is scoring about 3.60 goals per game. Vegas swept the regular season series by scores of 3-2 (SO), 2-1 (OT), and 6-1, so they should be full of confidence coming into this matchup. This is going to be one of the most entertaining series in the first round and I think we are going to see a conservative, low scoring game. Take the under here.
