The New York Islanders come into this one looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses after a 2-1 shootout loss to Seattle last time out. Mathew Barzal leads the Islanders in scoring with 56 points including 15 goals and 41 assists while Noah Dobson has 55 points with a team-high 48 assists and Brock Nelson’s added 41 points with a team-high 22 goals this season. Bo Horvat’s also chipped in 47 points with 21 goals of his own and 26 assists and Kyle Palmieri has 32 points with 15 goals and 17 assists. Ilya Sorokin has posted a 16-12-10 record in goal for the Islanders this season with a 3.04 GAA and a .911 save percentage while Semyon Varlamov is 6-6-3 with a 2.90 GAA and a .912 save percentage this season. The Islanders will meet the Penguins after this one.

I’m on the Rangers here. The added element of an outdoor game makes capping this game a bit more difficult, but the Rangers have a perfect 4-0 record all-time in outdoor games, although they haven’t played one since 2018 and Henrik Lundqvist was the goalie for all four games. The Islanders have some players with experience in outdoor games, but as a whole, the team isn’t playing well as of late and the Rangers have been one of the NHL’s hottest teams out of the all-star break. I don’t feel like stepping in front of the Rangers right now, even with an outdoor game environment. I’ll back the Rangers here.
