The Vancouver Canucks are 48-22-8 this year after they defeated Vegas by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Vancouver trailed 3-2 in the second period, but they scored the last two goals in the game for the win. The Canucks out shot Vegas by a total of 30-23 and went 2-3 on the power play in the game. Vancouver lost to LA by a score of 6-3 in the game prior to Vegas, but did beat Arizona before that. The Canucks are scoring 3.42 goals per game and they are allowing 2.71 goals against per game, while going 22.8% on the power play and 78% on the penalty kill. J.T. Miller has led Vancouver with 35 goals, 65 assists, and 184 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Vancouver is Casey DeSmith, who is 11-9-6 this year with a 2.96 goals against average and an .893 save percentage.

Coyotes Preview

The Arizona Coyotes are 33-40-5 this season after they lost to Seattle by a score of 5-0 in their last game. Arizona allowed two goals in the first, one in the second, and two in the third in the shutout loss. The Coyotes out shot Seattle by a total of 39-25 and went 0-1 on the power play in the game. Vancouver Canucks Team Facts

  • The Canucks have lost each of their last five games as home favorites against opponents on a winning streak.
  • The Canucks have failed to cover the puck line in each of their last nine games against opponents on a winning streak.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 2′ market has hit in each of the Canucks’ last eight games following a home win.
  • The Canucks have won the first period in five of their last six games at Rogers Arena following a win.

Arizona Coyotes Team Facts

  • The Coyotes have won each of their last two games as underdogs on the second leg of a back-to-back.
  • The Coyotes have covered the puck line in each of their last five games against the Canucks.
  • The Coyotes have lost the second period in each of their last four games.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 3′ market has hit in each of the Coyotes’ last 11 night games.

Canucks vs Coyotes Prediction

Vancouver comes into this matchup leading the Pacific standings, but they have played very inconsistently over the last couple of weeks. The Canucks are coming off of a nice win against Vegas, and they are 26-9-4 on home ice. Arizona is second to last in the Central, but they have played better hockey recently. The Coyotes do most of their damage at home, as they are only 12-20-5 on the road, and they are on the second game of a back to back here. Arizona has been involved in a bunch of higher scoring games recently, and I think Vancouver will light the lamp early and often. Take the over here.
