Alex de Minaur will meet Adrian Mannarino in the Quarter-Finals at the 2023 Queen’s Championships. The match will be played on Friday June 23rd, 2023.

Seventh seeded Alex de Minaur has been simply outstanding this week here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships. The diminuitive Aussie does not have the weapons that are usually associated with grass-court success, but his elite movement and sheer will to win are weapons in their own right. He crushed Andy Murray 6-3, 6-1 in the First Round before doing the same to Diego Schwartzman in the Second. Luckily for the Aussie, he has not yet faced anyone with a big serve and that will continue against Adrian Mannarino, so he will be liking his chances here.

Adrian Mannarino is a true grass-court specialist, which is puzzling since he lacks a true weapon, which most specialists do. However, he finds a way to win, and his hard, flat groundstrokes are a big part of it. He has uncanny awareness on this surface and this has led him to upset wins over Daniil Medvedev and more recently Taylor Fritz here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships. While Alex de Minaur will get all the headlines as the favorite, the Frenchman is certainly capable of causing the upset here and if he continues serving well, he could very well be favored here.

I expect yet another close match between the pair, with Alex de Minaur leading the head to head 3-1. However, this is arguably Adrian Mannarino’s best surface, and he has been playing great tennis. So has the Aussie however, and with just a bit more firepower than Mannarino, I am giving him the edge. They play a similar counterpunching game but the Aussie is able to serve and hit just a little bit bigger, and that coupled with his eite movement should steer him to victory here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships.
