Andrey Rublev will meet Alexander Bublik in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The match will be played on Sunday July 9th, 2023. 

Andrey Rublev is the 7th seed here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is ranked 7th on the ATP Tour. The Russian has been one of the most consistent players in the world over the past few seasons, and this year is no exception with a 34-13 record and winning his first ever Masters-1000 title in Monte-Carlo. He overcame a tough challenge from David Goffin to reach this stage, winning 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-2, hitting 14 aces and breaking his opponent’s serve 6 times. 

Alexander Bublik is the 23rd seed here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is as inconsistent as they come. However, there is no denying his talent, and that was on full display in his run to the title in Halle. His big serve and all-around game make him very dangerous, and he has been exceptional so far here at Wimbledon, defeating Maximillian Marterer in straight sets in the Third Round. He won almost 90% of points on his first serve there, and if that happens again he has a real shot at an upset. 

I am a big fan of Alexander Bublik’s game and I think he has the potential to win this match. However, Andrey Rublev is far more trustworthy, and his mental game is the stronger of the two players. Bublik could easily win a set or more here, but I find it hard to believe that he can sustain it for long enough to win here. It’ll be very close and I’m backing Bublik to win a set, but the Russian will win and move on to the Quarters here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
