Andrey Rublev will meet Francisco Cerundolo in the Semi-Finals of the 2023 Swedish Open. The match will be played on Saturday July 22nd, 2023. 

Andrey Rublev is the 2nd seed here at the 2023 Swedish Open and is ranked 7th on the ATP Tour. The Russian is expected to be the main challenger to Casper Ruud’s title here but will face some stiff competition from Francisco Cerundolo who has been playing well of late. He was dominant in his 6-2, 6-3 win over Alexander Zverev in the Quarter-Finals, a match that was expected to be a lot closer and in this sort of form he should be favored to pass the Cerundolo test. 

Francisco Cerundolo is the 4th seed here at the 2023 Swedish Open and is the 20th ranked player in the world. The Argentine has really broken out over the past few seasons, winning two titles including one on grass at Eastbourne. Like his opponent Andrey Rublev he has been playing very well this week, not dropping a set en route to the Semi-Finals. He cruised past Federico Coria 6-3, 6-3 in the Quarters, controlling the match from the baseline. He doesn’t have the raw power of his opponent, but is a very crafty and smart player, with the ability to turn on the power when needed. 

This will be a tough match for Andrey Rublev but I expect him to have enough quality to get the job done here. Francisco Cerundolo is the type of player that you have to beat, he won’t give much away but Rublev is one of the strongest players in the world and is very good mentally and tactically. It’ll be close, but give me the Russian in two very close sets, reaching the Final of the 2023 Swedish Open.
