Carlos Alcaraz will meet Grigor Dimitrov in the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 Queen’s Championships. The match will be played on Friday June 23rd, 2023. 

World number Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships. It took him a little while to find his footing on this surface, but he was back to his dominant self in his win over Jiri Lehecka, winning 6-2, 6-3. In a match that lasted just over an hour, he completely controlled the tempo, dominating rallies from the baseline and coming into the net to win points. With a 37-4 record on the season, he is already looking like a veteran on the grass, a scary prospect for the rest of the tour. His next opponent Grigor Dimitrov is one of the most experienced players on the tour and should not be taken lightly. 

Grigor Dimitrov is unseeded here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships and is ranked 26th in the world. The seasoned veteran was impressive in his 6-3, 7-5 win over Francisco Cerundolo. The Bulgarian is a former champion here at Queen’s, and has bags of experience on the surface. While he lacks the sheer explosive power of his opponent Carlos Alcaraz, he has a lot of guile to his game, and his slice backhand is a deadly weapon on this quicker surface. 

This should be a stern test for Carlos Alcaraz, but it is one that I expect him to pass. Grigor Dimitrov is a great player in his own right, but Alcaraz just keeps getting better and better and he looked so comfortable in his win over Lehecka. It is still an unfamiliar surface for him so there will be some bumps, but he is too good to not figure it out and I think he will win in straight sets here, moving into his first ever grass court Semi-Final here at the 2023 Queen’s Championships.
