Carlos Alcaraz will meet Jeremy Chardy in the First Round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The match will be played on Tuesday July 4th, 2023. 

World number one and top seed Carlos Alcaraz will begin his 2023 Wimbledon Championships campaign with a match against the veteran Frenchman, Jeremy Chardy. Alcaraz seems to be getting better and better every day, and stunned everyone when he lifted the title at Queen’s a week ago, with little grass court experience. Of course he has an incredible game which is well suited to all surfaces, but it is his mental abilities that amaze us the most. In this type of form and with him learning more and more everyday, he is a major threat to win the title here and is the massive favorite over Chardy. 

Jeremy Chardy is a veteran of the ATP Tour and has had a long and very successful career. However, it is winding down and approaching it’s end, and he could have hardly have asked for a worse draw. Facing the world number one Carlos Alcaraz, he will have to use every ounce of his experience to ensure that this is not over quickly, especially since he hasn’t played many matches this season. 

This match should be over in a hurry. Quite frankly, Jeremy Chardy is no longer the player he once was and is a few levels below the Spaniard in terms of current ability. His serve is still a weapon and will win him some cheap points, but expect Carlos Alcaraz to quickly jump out and dominate this match. Straight sets is a very, very strong possibility and that is where I will be placing my bets here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
